Them seats is wicked expensive...

Fenway's Monster seats now have ticket prices to match
By Scott Van Voorhis/Boston Herald
Friday, March 19, 2004

Fenway Park's coveted Green Monster seats took a giant stride upward in price yesterday, more than doubling to $110 for a front-row seat to Yankees matchups and other top games.

Sox fans will also have to shell out $70 to $90 for the back rows of the novelty seating section above the left field wall - the highest prices reserved for Opening Day, showdowns with the Bronx Bombers, and other high-demand games, Sox executives said yesterday. That's up from last year's blanket, $50-a-seat price.

The hike comes after Sox brass last year rolled out a 274-seat platform atop the legendary Fenway fixture. The seats were a huge hit - 280,000 fans sought to buy Monster tickets to last fall's Oakland A's playoff series alone.

A jump in price for the quickly coveted seats had long been expected; the only question was how high they would go. Tickets to a new, cafe-style seating section on the right-field roof were priced last week at up to $100 each.

Sox business chief Michael Dee yesterday defended the higher prices. The Sox could have sold out the front-row seats at $300 each, he said.

"Given the demand and the buzz in the marketplace for these tickets, we are probably underpricing,'' Dee said.

Passionate about the Passion

So this Georgia couple gets into this bloodying argument about Mel Gibson's new movie. A bit fanatical for my taste.
