Word of the Day - 3/3

Well folks, it had to happen eventually--and today we have our first guest submission. This entry comes courtesy of Kristin Weekley--a most excellent and longtime (well, relatively longtime:)) subscriber to the list--yes folks, she's smarter than I am--but let's try to resist the urge to stage a coup (I'm awfully fond of these word of the day things, after all). But anyway--on to the word, inspired by a closeup of our lonely moose from 2/15. Apparently it's not so much that he's lonely, but rather that he seeks an easy life of solitude--because the word of the day is:

Derelict: Derelict refers to one who somehow is lacking in a sense of duty. While this often has a negative connotation, one can't help but concede the freedom gained by one who has forsaken all duty and responsibility.
